In the summer of 1995 the Centre for Black and White Christian Partnership in BirminghamI was asking for a list of Centres of Theological Education in Kenya . . . and in other parts of Africa. Not even the WCC could supply it and hence the commissioning of this book.
Its arrival in 1997 therefore was very much welcomed as a first attempt, not least for its global extent and the detailed information provided. Sadly the intended and hoped-for regular revisions and updates failed to materialise as a result of finance problems. Now somewhat dated and inevitably lacking many of the new institutions which have since opened, particularly in Eastern Europe, there are many which have scarcely changed at all thus making it still a valuable reference book.
